Statement regarding Nurses’ pay consultation

29/01/2024

The College of Paramedics is aware that the Department of Health & Social Care have launched a consultation on the possibility of a separate pay scale for nursing, which was raised last year as part of the ongoing conversations between the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) and the government.

Whilst we are not a trade union, we believe it is vital to take part in this call for evidence and have given our members until March 11, 2024 to feedback and share their views with us so that we can ensure their voice is represented in the consultation process.

The College recognises that Agenda for Change has broadly provided better pay parity for many across the health sector but introducing a separate pay spine for nurses has the potential for unintended consequences for allied health professionals.

The College is part of the Allied Health Professions Federation and we will be working closely with our allied health colleagues over the coming weeks on this matter.
