International Paramedics
There has in recent years been an increasing number of paramedics from around the world coming to work in the UK. Like other countries, the UK has its own specific requirements and processes in place to enable someone to work as a paramedic. More uniquely, the UK has a regulatory system provided by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) who are, amongst other things, responsible for maintaining a paramedic register. All paramedics must be registered with the HCPC to work as a paramedic in the UK.
The College of Paramedics is the recognised professional body for all paramedics in the UK, representing paramedics in professional matters relating to clinical practice, professional standards, education and research. Our key role is to promote and develop the paramedic profession across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
We acknowledge that coming to the UK to work can be quite daunting at first, so we have produced this guide to support our international colleagues in their journey. We hope that it will answer or alleviate some of the queries or concerns that you might have and help you in your exciting move to the UK.
