In the UK, Palliative Care needs cost the NHS approximately £180 million per year, and in 2020 in England and Wales there were around 167,000 deaths in private homes attributed to end of life according to the Office for National Statistics. Often people are afraid of talking about death and dying however this can be a part of the problem.
The University of Suffolk, in Partnership with the College of Paramedics are addressing this by hosting a single study day on Monday 21st March 2022 at the University's Waterfront Building.
The University welcomes guest speakers who encounter these matters daily including members of the St Elizabeth Hospice, recognising death from members of St Helena Hospice, the role of the mortuary and funeral directors and we hear from a family who have received the care through the loss of an immediate family member.
Join us for this in depth review of death and dying and how we all can contribute to showing respect and provide comfort for those in their dying days.
Sessions include
