Paramedic Inclusive Recruitment Conference 2023
Bookings Now Open!
We are excited to announce the first
College of Paramedics Paramedic Inclusive Recruitment Conference
which will be taking place in Birmingham on 13th July 2023.
Our aim is to bring together recruitment leads from higher education, ambulance trusts and other organisations who employ paramedics, to discuss, collaborate and plan how we can increase the diversity of the profession, improve the working experience of paramedics from under-represented groups and support staff from these groups to develop and reach senior roles within the profession.
Sessions Include
From a Snowflake to an Avalanche!
Presented by Dawn Poulson Whelan Chair, National Ambulance Disability Network, Hearing Chair, EEAST, National Ambulance Disability Network, AACE, East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust
This session will look at the background to the National Ambulance Disability Network, why it is important to amplify the voices of Disabled staff and how this supports the recruitment and retention of talented staff.
The session will also discuss adjustments to support staff with differences and how to support applicants though recruitment processes.
Minority Ethnic Recruitment
Presented by
Gita Prasad,
Deputy Director of Business and Partnerships
EEAST is committed to creating an organisation that is representative of its community. The numbers of colleagues from a minority ethnic background in the Trust currently does not represent the demography of the Eastern Region. Our approach is to address this with internal change and by working in strategic partnerships.
Translating WRES Ambulance Data into Equality
Presented by
Anton Emmanuel, Consultant Neurogastroenterologist, UCLH , Head of the WRES, Head of the WRES
The presentation will share the data of how the ambulance sector has distinct challenges from other parts of the NHS. And what opportunities that presents in terms of improving inclusion in the sector.
Retention, what must we do, what can we do?
Presented by
Gemma Howlett, Principal Lecturer and Acting Head of Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Institute of Health, University of Cumbria
The session will explore in the context diversity, equity and belonging the important and complex subject of retention and attainment. Exploring education support inclusive of mental health, wellbeing and coping strategies, ambulance culture and barriers.
Further programme content to be announced.
