Part 1: An introduction to Autism and Communication for Paramedics Webinar

The College of Paramedics is excited to announce a 3 part mini series on autism. Graduate and Newly Qualified Paramedic Mitchell Brown has been working with autistic people for over 6 years and in a variety of settings including community respite, education and residential care. In conjunction with the National Autistic Society Mitchell dedicated his final years work within this area we’re pleased to host his 3 part mini-series.

Part 1: This session will give a basic understanding on what is autism, its presentation, and a brief introduction into communication strategies to improve rapport with autistic patients. 

Part 2: This sessions delves deeper into understanding the 3 stages of development and the communication strategies to deal with each development stage. This session is taking place on Wednesday 11th January 2023. Please see the separate event listing to register to attend as registration is now open.

Part 3: This session delves deeper into emotional regulation tools for Paramedics to use when Autistic people are dealing with trauma and transactional support strategies for transitioning.

Part  3 will be arranged for early 2023 so please return to the events page to secure your space.
