Paramedics are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The HCPC sets standards for professional education, training and practice. The HCPC also regulates 14 other Allied Health Professionals. To understand more about what the HCPC do watch their short video

As well as setting standards, the HCPC keep a register of professionals, known as 'registrants', who meet the defined standards, the HCPC are also responsible for taking action if a professional on the register does not meet their standards. The ‘paramedic’ title is protected in law and all paramedics must be registered with the HCPC to be able to practice.
