We are delighted to offer this opportunity to full members of the College as part of the Rejuvenate. Thrive. Breathe. (RTB) Paramedic Wellness Programme.

Nutritional Coaching Webinars

We know that shift working can play havoc with not just what you eat but when you eat, placing shift workers at greater risk of developing chronic health conditions in the longer term which is likely due to living against our natural body clock.

There is strong evidence of a bi-directional relationship between sleep and diet, where chronic sleep and circadian rhythm disruption (SCRD) impacts glucose metabolism, energy, hunger and satiety (fulness) hormones, and detoxification processes. Irregular sleep and eating patterns experienced by shift workers affect cardiometabolic health markers, such as obesity, lipid profile, insulin resistance and blood pressure. These biological imbalances may be putting shift workers at greater risk of chronic diseases, namely type 2 diabetes, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular conditions, and some cancers, as well as issues with weight management. SCRD can have a significant impact on human emotional, cognitive, and physiological health.

This 4-part programme is designed to support shift working and non-shift working staff with the promotion of their health and wellbeing.

This programme combines nutrition guidance and coaching tools to encourage healthy eating practices, including night shift nutrition for physical and mental wellness.

Part 1 ~ Food for Energy
Thursday 1st May 12:00 - 13:00 Via Zoom
Presented by Anna Earl
Cost - Members of the College of Paramedics FREE
Non members £20

This webinar looks at how we can better manage our energy by keeping our blood sugar in balance. Certain foods cause our blood sugar to spike, but then shortly after our energy levels plunge. This is detrimental to our health and can increase our risk of type 2 diabetes. We explore better food choices to support energy metabolism.

To register for parts 2,3 and 4 please see the separate event listings.
