Interactive Career Framework

In 2024 we set out not just to refresh, but to transform the Interactive Career Framework (ICF). Originally developed in 2015, the ICF was created to showcase the evolving roles paramedics are taking on, inspire career journeys, and provide a practical blueprint for professional development.

Built around the College’s Post-Registration Career Framework, the ICF is structured around the four pillars of practice - clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research and development; demonstrating how progress across these areas can shape careers and open new opportunities.

This latest update focuses on representing a wide range of roles, balancing contributions across all pillars, improving equitable opportunities for members to share their journeys, enhancing accessibility, and embedding the ICF as a core part of the College’s Education Team portfolio.

With this version of the ICF, we have taken a more proactive approach, reaching out to members working in research and from under-represented groups, shifting towards a video-based model, and opening up marketing to all members to encourage wider participation.

We’re hugely grateful to everyone who offered to share their career journeys, and to those whose stories are now available for others to explore. New videos and content will be added over time, and we’d love to see more members getting involved and sharing their experiences.

You can visit the Interactive Career Framework here. If you’d like to contribute, just follow the ‘Share my story’ link on the page for details on how to get involved.
