In JRCALCs recent update (February, 2022) the Rockwood Clinical Frailty Score (CFS) was a notable addition to many assessment tools including trauma and medical emergencies. The CFS is a Global measure of fitness and frailty in the elderly population is useful as a prognostic indicator of quality of life & frailty, however how effective are we at using it?
Within many services it appeared within patient care records without any formal explanation or training and the College is aware of this and therefore we’re excited to welcome the experts who utilise the CFS score in daily practice to help support care planning with the frail elderly population.
The National Frailty Academy founded by Dr Amit Arora is instrumental in developing the skills of people involved in caring, managing or treating frail older people. The Academy’s vision is to upskill colleagues through effective training and provide relevant knowledge and learning to safely manage the frail individual in any care setting.
On March 29th at 18:00 the College is hosting a special event where we welcome members of the training team from the Academy, during the session they will provide insight into the CFS and through case based discussion apply the tool highlighting key learning points with the main outcome to develop our awareness and improve our assessment skills.
