Programme includes

Challenging perceptions
Challenging Perceptions and Confronting Sexual Harassment
Presented by Sam Thompson, Forensic Paramedic and Senior Lecture at St Georges, University London
Student paramedics are dealing with a hidden crisis—sexual harassment that’s often dismissed or overlooked as harmless behaviour. Many fail to recognize it, whether it's happening to them or others. Even when they do, fear and uncertainty prevent them from speaking out. This session will challenge those misleading perceptions, helping you identify harassment for what it is and empowering you to take a stand and challenge it confidently.

Professional curiosity
Igniting Curiosity: Empowering Paramedic Students Through Inquiry
Presented by Deborah Rigg, HEMS Paramedic North West Ambulance Service

In this dynamic session, we champion the power of professional curiosity among student paramedics. By fostering a culture of inquiry, we encourage students to ask probing questions about clinical practice and professional behaviour. Through active engagement and exploration, attendees will gain the confidence to challenge assumptions, seek innovative solutions, and drive positive change within the paramedic profession. Join us as we ignite the flame of curiosity and inspire a new generation of healthcare leaders.

Managing work life balance
Juggling Act: Navigating Work, Life, and Studies in Paramedic Education
Presented by Ester Murray, Health Psychologist working at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry

Join us for a candid exploration of the perpetual challenge faced by student paramedics: balancing work, life, and academic studies. Through personal anecdotes and expert insights, we'll discuss strategies for managing these demands while maintaining clear boundaries and prioritizing self-care. Learn how to recognize signs of burnout and establish healthy habits that promote well-being. Together, we'll uncover practical tips to help students thrive both personally and professionally in the dynamic world of paramedicine.

Clinical decision making
Navigating Complexity: Enhancing Clinical Decision-Making in Paramedicine
Presented by Andy Collen, Consultant Paramedic, South East Coast Ambulance Service

Embark on a journey of discovery as we delve into the multifaceted realm of clinical decision-making in paramedicine. From selecting appropriate care pathways to effective safety netting, we'll explore the diverse facets of decision-making in healthcare. Emphasizing collaboration and patient-centered care, this session equips student paramedics with essential skills to navigate complexity and make informed decisions as part of a cohesive healthcare team. Join us as we unravel the art and science of clinical decision-making.

In addition to the fantastic programme there’ll be a variety of exhibitors, equipment demonstrations, workshops, network opportunities, prizes to be won, great food and a chance to hear from students like yourselves getting hints and tips for surviving in whichever year you’re embarking on.
