We are seeking an enthusiastic Policy Assistant to join our vibrant team.
The Policy Assistant is responsible for supporting the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to monitor the political environment across the UK, develop consultation responses, engage with stakeholders, and gather information to assist in the development of policy statements, reports and campaigns.
The Policy Assistant will advocate for, support and work with members of the College of Paramedics across the UK.
The Policy Assistant will monitor the parliamentary environment to help us anticipate and respond to opportunities to influence policy and practice, producing briefings and assisting in the delivery of parliamentary activities and events.
The Policy Assistant will help develop evidence-based policy positions and solutions to support the College of Paramedics influencing and campaigns work and to help achieve our strategic objectives.
The Policy Assistant will undertake research to support College of Paramedics influencing and campaigns work.
The Policy Assistant will work as a member of the Policy and Public Affairs team contributing to its overall objectives.
The Policy Assistant’s duties and responsibilities will also include:

Keep up to date with trends and changes in health and other policy areas relevant to paramedicine.

Provide policy expertise to the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and other staff, develop evidence-based policy positions and identify, monitor and evaluate policy and political trends as appropriate.
•
Prepare authoritative, concise briefings for internal and external audiences, including submissions and consultations to parliament and government.
•
Write articles and updates for internal and external publication and contribute to the development of the website, ensuring the policy sections are up to date, maximising support for influencing and campaigning priorities.
•
Monitor parliamentary business for opportunities to influence, and to establish and maintain effective relationships with policy makers to inform key debates and committee discussions on issues relevant to paramedicine.
•
Support the delivery of in-house research projects as required.
•
Oversee the consultation log- providing support to College of Paramedics staff to coordinate consultation responses.
This role will include occasional travel within the UK.
The post involves core working hours of 37.5 hours per week and will involve regularly liaising with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to carry out designated duties.
