Approximately 1.3 million people die each year globally as a direct result of motor vehicle collisions (MVCs). Following an MVC some patients will remain trapped in their vehicle; these patients have worse outcomes and may require extrication. Following new evidence, updated multidisciplinary guidance for extrication is needed and Rob is here to present the findings of the latest research. 

 Rob Fenwick is a consultant nurse working in the emergency department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and co-hosts the resus room podcast. Rob has a background in prehospital care and a keen interest in immobilisation, extrication as well as evidenced based medicine.
