Supporting safer, more consistent ECG interpretation in Pre-Hospital Care
Accurate ECG interpretation is fundamental to patient safety in pre-hospital care. Recent national patient-safety findings have highlighted significant variation in ECG education, confidence, and competence across ambulance services and Higher Education Institutions.
In response to recommendations from the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB), and with the endorsement of the Royal College of Paramedics, this national ECG webinar series has been developed to support improved consistency, confidence, and clinical decision-making in ECG interpretation. The online series directly addresses the risks identified in national investigations, including misinterpretation of time-critical ECGs and gaps in training related to patient diversity and protected characteristics.
This series provides a structured, progressive approach to ECG interpretation, grounded in patient safety, inclusive practice, and the realities of pre-hospital care.
