Tracy Nicholls FCPara, Chief Executive, College of Paramedics
I have been a paramedic since May of 1998, with time in a number of different roles since then. My joy and motivation have always been the people who work tirelessly to care for patients. Being part of the paramedic profession and contributing to the development of that profession is an honour and privilege.
Mentoring, championing and supporting other paramedics and our colleagues was the first chapter of my career in giving back to those people that inspired me. I then moved into clinical quality improvement and patient safety work that was the path to me breaking a glass ceiling, as not just a female but as a paramedic; becoming the first registered paramedic on an Ambulance NHS Trust Board of Directors in 2018. This was an example of the growth of the paramedic profession and the impressive and multiple ways in which it has evolved and still is evolving. As Chief Executive of the College of Paramedics my career is still focused on championing, supporting and improving lives as I help the College and the profession shape their exciting and innovation filled future.
