Health inequalities are systematic, avoidable and unfair differences between populations, within populations or across a socio-economic gradient. They occur because of the unequal conditions in which we are born, grow, live, work and age. We will explore the "What, why and how" of health inequalities and its influence on paramedic practice.

I am a HCPC-registered Paramedic, NMC-registered Nurse (Adult), Independent Prescriber and Public Health Lead for the College of Paramedics. Following 15 years in various clinical and managerial roles in the NHS and Civil Service in England, I joined the South West Public Health Training Programme in 2019 and I am currently a Specialist Registrar in Public Health (ST4) with the Office of Health Improvement and Disparities (South East). Additionally, I am practising clinically as an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner in the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
