College of Paramedics CPD and EGM 2021
College of Paramedics CPD and EGM
Don’t miss this great opportunity to join the College’s Extraordinary General Meeting and take part in two interesting and informative CPD sessions.

Programme includes

Perplexing Presentations and Fabricated or Induced Illness in Children Presented by Dr Danya Glaser

This session presented by Dr Glaser, will be based on the recently published Perplexing Presentations / Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) in Children guidance by The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
The session will include an outline of FII, the signs when it may be occurring and how to distinguish it from physical abuse. Dr Glaser will be welcoming your questions during the presentation to help guide the session and learning, so it may be useful to think about what you think FII is, when you might come across FII and what your role is when you do. Dr Danya Glaser, initially a developmental paediatrician, now a child and adolescent psychiatrist.  She has practised, taught, researched and written widely on various aspects of child maltreatment including sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, and fabricated or induced illness; child maltreatment and the Law with extensive expert witness work; the effects of child maltreatment on the developing brain; and Attachment. She is Visiting Professor at UCL and Honorary Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children London UK, working on the early recognition of FII.  Dr Glaser is a past president of the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN).

EGM Presented by Dr John Martin FCPara, Chair (President) of Board presents: New governance structure
This is your opportunity to contribute towards developing your professional body. You will hear from John, who will provide the latest updates on the College of Paramedics governance restructure. There will also be a reminder to cast your vote, through a special resolution, on the Memorandum and Articles of Association, the College governing document. The voting, for full members of the College of Paramedics, will open on 14th April 2021. You will be emailed details on how to vote. Membership approval of this document would complete our proposed governance restructure from a legal perspective. Being involved in your professional body in this way and participation in professional activities all contributes towards your CPD.
