The Royal College of Paramedics Annual National Conference 2026;
The Paramedic Profession: Determining our own future, will be taking place at the International Convention Centre, Newport, South Wales on
Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd of May 2026.
2026 marks a defining moment for UK paramedicine. As we celebrate 25 years of the College and formally become the Royal College of Paramedics, this flagship national conference brings together the profession from across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to share experiences and discuss possibilities for the future.
Set in the stunning surroundings of the Celtic Manor Resort, this two-day event is designed for the whole profession and other colleagues offering a rich mix of inspiration, learning, debate, innovation and connection.
The conference features high-profile UK speakers and national leaders from across urgent and emergency care, education, research, policy and patient safety. Sessions will tackle some of the biggest issues facing paramedics today — from disaster response and frailty, to professional identity, leadership, quality and system change — with a clear focus on the realities of UK practice.
The programme includes key note presentations, panels, debates, live conversations, round-tables and practical workshops, ensuring that delegates can listen, challenge, question and contribute. Something for everyone!

Programme

Evidence, innovation and improvement
This is a conference grounded in evidence, improvement and innovation. Across the two days you will find:
- Competitive abstract and poster sessions showcasing service developments, education, quality improvement and research from across the UK
- Short, high-impact “golden nugget” presentations sharing ideas published in the British Paramedic Journal
- Opportunities to take part in live professional studies, including a paediatric ventilation feedback research project (which will report findings at the end of Day 2!) and a virtual-reality 10-second triage exercise
The 2026 conference is built to be engaging, practical and participatory. Delegates will be able to join:
- Hands-on workshops, including air ambulance retrieval and end-of-life care
- Round-table discussions on leadership, culture and professional development
- A headline formal debate on paramedic professional identity and whether we should remain as allied health professionals.
- Panel discussions with senior clinicians, and system leaders. Every voice matters — this is a conference where the profession speaks to itself.
Connect with the community
A large exhibition and sponsor area will showcase the latest in technology, education, equipment and services supporting UK paramedic practice. Built-in networking time throughout both days gives you space to meet colleagues, share ideas and build collaborations. Or perhaps you want to join a fun run or have some quiet reflective time with some gentle stretching. It’s all there for you.
A celebration of a historic year
The conference includes a gala evening dinner with entertainment, bringing the UK paramedic community together to celebrate 25 years of progress and the start of a new era as the Royal College of Paramedics.
No matter where you work or what health care profession or discipline you are in, you are welcome to join us at Celtic Manor to share in our celebrations and discussions about the future of paramedicine.
