College of Paramedics Virtual CPD and AGM - These sessions will be delivered by Zoom Webinar.

On the 19th of July we have an exciting line up of speakers, all built around the College of Paramedics annual general meeting.

These sessions will be delivered by Zoom Webinar.
Starting at 11:30am we welcome Dr Gary Dennis, Consultant Neurologist from Sheffield Teaching Hospital discussing Epilepsy. From a brief overview of the pathophysiology through to examining the diagnosis and available treatments. Dr Dennis brings a wealth of experience and this first session, lasting 1 hour, promises to be interactive and packed full of take away information.

After our first session we are joining the College’s AGM which is being hosted by our Executive committee, this is your opportunity to get involved and hear what has been going on behind the scenes supporting you our members.

After the AGM, we move onto our second virtual session and hear from specialists managing epilepsy amongst two different cohorts of patients, the first children and we welcome Dr Ianthe Abbey from York and Scarborough NHS Trust and the team from the Dravet Society.

From assessment to management, we explore how we can improve our abilities when managing children but in addition supporting their families. Dravet Syndrome is typically characterised by multiple, frequent, treatment resistance and often prolonged seizures. Dravet syndrome is a rare neurological condition which affects around one in every 15,000 people in the UK. Amanda Tomalin, a Paediatric Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist at Evelina London Children's Hospital (ELCH) and a member of DSUK’s Medical Advisory Board will be doing this talk on our behalf. You can find out more about Amanda here: https://www.dravet.org.uk/about-us/professional-advisors/amanda-tomalin/

Ensure your place today as all our sessions will be packed full of information with plenty of take-away golden nuggets.
