Northern Ireland - A Wellbeing Walk
We are delighted to offer this opportunity to full members of the College as part of the Rejuvenate. Thrive. Breathe. (RTB) paramedic wellness programme
in collaboration with Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS)
.
This tranquil hike through the serene forest trails of Gortin Glen will be taking place on
10th October 2024 (World Mental Health Day).
You will be guided by the soothing sounds of cascading rivers as you ascend to the summit of Mullaghcarn Mountain. This 14km route, with a total ascent of 500m, offers breathtaking views and the unique opportunity to visit the statue of the giant at the most southerly peak of the Sperrins.
Along the way, participants will engage in mindfulness coaching, helping you to connect deeply with nature, enhancing both your mental and physical well-being. The descent from Mullaghcarn’s summit leads you across a boggy landscape via Mullagharn South top, before rejoining the forest trails that wind back to the car park.
The walk will be lead by Positive Steps Outdoors, a social enterprise helping you take preventative steps, promoting positive mental and physical wellbeing.

members of the College of Paramedics
only and we have limited places of 8
Our aim, is to promote outdoor recreation as a means of improving mental health and wellbeing.
This event is aimed at:
• People new to the activity, who have a reasonable level of fitness
• People that used to spend time in the outdoors but, for whatever reason, have lost the confidence to do so
• People that are looking to meet like-minded people and reconnect with themselves and others, whilst in the outdoors
Using the Mental Health Continuum, this event will be most suited to those members who feel they are 'thriving' or 'surviving'; members who feel they need a little time out in the open countryside and have a breather.
The Mental Health Continuum can be accessed Here:
