We would like to invite applications for the 2020 Carol Furber Award. This award, sponsored by Class Professional Publishing is presented in memory of the late Carol Furber who contributed so much to the development of the College.
The award encourages all members of the College of Paramedics to reflect upon any incident or event that has resulted in learning. These pieces of work are shared with other members of the College, the wider profession, as well as other healthcare professionals, developing insight on professional practice and sometimes raising research questions.
You are invited to submit presentations for consideration of the award by Monday 3rd February 2020. Submissions may be in any of the following forms:
- Poster (Either 1 single powerpoint slide or A3 printed)
- Video (Up to 5 minutes in length)
- Written piece (Up to 2500 words excluding references, front cover and appendices.)
Your presentation should be composed to protect patient confidentiality, using original text with references as appropriate and countersigned by a registered paramedic supporting your work as genuine and unique.
The winner will be presented with their award at the College of Paramedics' National Conference Gala Dinner taking place on Wednesday 13th May 2020 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Birmingham, and will receive a complimentary pass to the two-day conference. In addition, the winner will be assisted to publish their work in the Paramedic INSIGHT and on the College website.
The top 3 entries and a selection of others will be displayed at the conference.
The award will also be supported with a book voucher to the value of £50.00. The winner's name will also be added to the Carol Furber Presentation Plate.
We welcome as many individual submissions as we can achieve to honour the energy and passion given by Carol to help us to get the college into the respected position it is in today.
Please send submissions to Sue Russel, Business Administrator, College of Paramedics, The Exchange, Express Park, Bristol Road, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 4RR, Email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Monday 3rd February 2020.
