We are delighted to announce this unique CPD session which will look at patients with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

The focus will be on ASD specifically and in particular communication difficulties and how to ensure that those with ASD (when they have a medical emergency or when an ambulance is called) can benefit from adequate treatment and management.  

The session will be led by Dr Holly Greer and Dr Maggie McGurgan

Dr Maggie McGurgan is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities in Northern Ireland. She has sub-specialist expertise and training in intellectual disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders and autism spectrum disorders. Maggie is trained in TEACCH, DISCO (Lorna Wing Centre) and ADOS-2.  She is experienced in the assessment and management of a wide range of other mental health problems and emotional difficulties affecting children and young people including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, school refusal etc.

Dr Holly Greer currently works as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Intellectual Disabilities in Northern Ireland. She has sub-specialist expertise and training in intellectual disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorders. Holly also is currently involved in the development of a mental health service for deaf, hard of hearing and implanted children due to her extensive work with those with complex needs and sensory issues. Holly is trained in TEACCH and ADOS-2.  Holly also has a wealth of experience in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of other mental health problems and emotional difficulties affecting children and young people including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorders, school refusal etc.
