A.T.a.R.S - Ambulance Transfer & Retrieval Skills
Pre-Hospital Care Consultancy
Transfers are a common tasking for Ambulance Crews and even when a hospital clinician accompanies the patient there is no guarantee they have any additional training for this task or in appreciating the complications of this specialist working environment. The phase between facilities is considered high risk due to the lack of diagnostics, clinical support and personnel and therefore requires considerable knowledge, skills and the use of equipment not often covered in generic ambulance education in order to make it as safe as possible to transfer the patient to their definitive care facility.
To ensure the right patient is taken at the right time, by the right people, to the right place, by the right transport requires specialist knowledge and that is provided on this course by a faculty experienced in performing such patient transfers and teaches a systematic approach following a well tested format.
- Understand what do do PRIOR to the transfer
- Understand what to do on ARRIVAL at transfer
- Understand what to do to PREPARE for the transfer
- Understand CARE and expected COMPLICATIONS during the transfer
- Understand what to do on COMPLETING the transfer
This certified ONE DAY course is suitable for all involved in Ambulance transfers is a mixture of theory, preparation skills, packaging skills, extended equipment skills and concludes in teams completing end to end simulated transfers from facility to facility using real world equipment (Including ambulances).
