Join us for the first Oxford Brookes Paramedic Society CPD day in partnership with the College of Paramedics for a day focusing on the ‘time critical’ aspects of the paramedic profession.

 Sessions include:

Traumatic Cardiac Arrest & ABC on the Road

Dr Ian Bowler (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine). Dr Bowler has responded for the BASICS charity for the last 21 years and works for the Welsh Air Ambulance.

Critical Illness Recognition

Dr Sanjay Gupta (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care). Dr Gupta has served in the British Army for 21 years, notably in charge of the ICU during his tours of Afghanistan. He works at the University Hospital Southampton.

War trauma vs Civilian Trauma

Dr Sanjay Gupta (Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care) & Mark Ainsworth-Smith MBE (Consultant Pre-Hospital Care Practitioner). Mark has 30 years of experience working in A&E and the ambulance service and has recently been appointed a MBE for his services to major trauma and emergency care. He works for South Central Ambulance Service.

Who needs PPCI?

Jon Newton (Trainee Advanced Care Practitioner in Emergency Medicine, Advanced Paramedic & Senior Lecturer). Jon works for the University of Gloucestershire as a senior lecturer and has recently undertaken clinical research into futility prediction following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
