An evening simulation event to be held at the South Central Ambulance Service's new simulation centre. This evening event will focus on ALS Human Factors.
Learning outcomes from this event:
1 - By the end of the event using practical and classroom training allow the learner to develop an understanding of non-clinical skills available that can help reduce errors and improve patient outcomes in a cardiac arrest. Specifically but not limited to the use of cardiac arrest checklists, double verification of medications prior to administration and drug labelling.
2 - Leave the learner with an awareness of the human factors that inhibit communication when treating a critically ill patient. This will be achieved through the use practical simulations to deliver strategies to overcome communication barriers with a focus on clear leadership, as well as effective crew resource management.
3 - With the support of practical simulations this will allow learners to build a situational awareness throughout the event and will help the learner to be able to identify environmental elements of the incident that may be detrimental to crew safety and the patient outcome
Refreshments will be provided for this evening event and parking is available at the venue.
Due to the nature of the event there is limited availability but we look to hold more of these in the future.
