We are delighted to announce that Amy Hobbs will be the new Chair of the Student Council

The College of Paramedics is delighted to announce that Amy Hobbs will take over from Ben Vickers as the Chair of the Student Council from January 1, 2022.

Amy, who is a third-year paramedic student at the University of Hertfordshire has been the Eastern representative of the Student Council for the last 12 months.

In that time, as well as engaging, supporting and representing paramedic students in her region, Amy has been involved in organising the UK Student Paramedic Conference, volunteering at the College’s annual National Conference and sitting on the College’s Royal Charter task and finish group.  In 2021-21, she also co-chaired the EEAST learner reference group which she says provided her with ‘an invaluable understanding of how to effectively chair official meetings’.

Amy said:  “I am delighted to have been elected as the new Chair of the Student  Council. Over the last year, I have had the privilege to represent and amplify the voices of student paramedics in the East of England on the first year of the Student Council. I am very excited to drive forward discussions and initiatives that maximise the student paramedic experience as Chair in 2022. Alongside the student representatives, as well as the wider College of Paramedics and external organisations, I endeavour to build upon the fantastic foundations laid by Ben Vickars and Stella Branthonne-Foster; introducing new strategies to develop the opportunities of student paramedics across the UK.”

As Chair, Amy will be responsible for the leadership, co-ordination and representation of the Student Council within the College of Paramedics, and where appropriate, with external stakeholders. She will also be a voting member of the Paramedic Council.
