Advanced Practice and Regulation

The HCPC launch a project to look at Advanced Practice and regulation

We would like to invite all registrants to take part in this HCPC supported survey exploring Advanced Practice that can be accessed at The survey is open to all HCPC registrants but with a particular focus on those who identify as working at the level of advanced or consultant practice (including trainees) or have an interest, or aspiration, to work in advanced practice. We are also keen to receive responses from those registrants who manage services which involve advanced or consultant practitioners. Your responses will assist the HCPC in their consideration as to whether regulatory changes in relation to advanced practice are necessary in order to carry out their primary function; to protect the public. The closing date for participating in this survey is 12 noon on Friday 25th September 2020. It will only take 5-10 minutes to complete so please don’t delay if you want your opinion to contribute to this important topic.

If you have any further questions about this survey please contact Professor Maryann Hardy (, the lead investigator for this project.

The aims of the project are to identify any regulatory challenges and any risks presented by registrants’ advancing their practice, and how the HCPC should respond to these to ensure public protection and to support our registrants’ professionalism/good practice. More information here
