Announcing The College of Paramedics’ New Chief Operating Officer

The College of Paramedics has great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Lewis Andrews as our new Chief Operating Officer.

Lewis joins us from East of England Ambulance Service where he was Head of Quality Improvement and Professional Standards.

Lewis started his career in the ambulance sector’s patient transport service and qualified as a paramedic in 2002. Since then, he has worked his way up to become an experienced senior clinical leader and was responsible for operational, tactical and strategic business functions within EEAST. In total, Lewis has 25 years of patient-focused NHS experience under his belt.

In his new role with the College, Lewis will be responsible for the day-to-day operational, business and administrative functions of the organisation. He will also be responsible for the implementation of the College Strategy.

Lewis said: “I am honoured and very excited to be joining the College of Paramedics. I am looking forward to building on the great foundations already in place and supporting the development of the College for the benefit of its members. I am a firm believer that we can all flourish and reach our goals in a kind and supportive environment and feel confident that the skills I’ve learnt throughout my NHS career will hold me in good stead working with the College.”

Tracy Nicholls, Chief Executive of the College of Paramedics, said: “After an independent and rigorous recruitment process, I am delighted to welcome Lewis to the College of Paramedics.  The calibre of candidates was high, so thank you to all of those who applied.

“I have no doubt the team will thrive under his approach to improvement and thanks to his wide range of experiences, both within and outside of the NHS, I’m confident this will enable our team to become a more efficient and effective business operation for the benefit of our members.”

Lewis will start with the College in July 2022.
