The multi-award winning University of Cumbria is a wonderful blend of old and new, founded on a rich educational history with institutions dating back more than 150 years.  Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

The University of Cumbria has extensive experience in delivering high quality paramedic education across the UK. Currently we have over 1000 learners on the CPD programme with formal contracts with 9 out of the 11 English ambulance services. We also currently deliver the HM armed forces paramedic programme and an open access paramedic course from our Ambleside campus. This pedigree in paramedic education has led to the creation of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice (CEPP), which recently won the Preferred Provider Status for the Southern Ambulance Alliance (SWAST, SCAS, SECAMB, LAS, IoW), East of England Ambulance Service and North West Ambulance Service.

We are seeking an individual that has proven experience with leading paramedic education who is able to innovate and challenge the current norms within the sector. This role will play a crucial part in changing the shape ambulance service education within the UK and we are looking for someone that is willing to be creative and innovate. The CEPP is also committed to ensuring that all provision is delivered from a position of inclusivity. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment and passion for improving inclusion within paramedic education. Leading cultural change and challenging the current disparities within the paramedic profession will form a key part of this role.

You will demonstrate enthusiasm for practice-based education and their specialty, and have a willingness to utilise a range of e-learning technologies and other strategies in order to effect the provision of high quality learning opportunities and the best possible student experience.

The role will be part of the senior leadership team within the CEPP. The CEPP is the UK's largest provider of paramedic education. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team developing and leading the delivery of Paramedic Apprenticeship Degree Programmes nationwide.

This role will provide academic leadership across all programmes, but will focus on directly supporting EEAST, SECAMB and LAS programmes. The role will involve a mixture of remote working and supporting staff across the three programmes. The base location of this position will be within the southern region and is negotiable on successful appointment.

The University has previously been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Outstanding Employer Engagement Award and this is reflected in the fact that close collaborative working with several organisations is a key requirement of the role.
