Substance Misuse

Substance Misuse
Join us for our new series of Lunch & Learns . Adam Kenningham-Brown - Course Leader & Senior Lecturer, Anglia Ruskin University, will focus on recognising and managing psychiatric patients.

Taking place at 12:15-12:45 this session will focus on Substance Misuse

We will explore some of the theories around dependencies, what the drivers and motivators are of these behaviours, and of course what you can do for the patient. How to interact and talk with them, what to start thinking about and how we deal with our thoughts around addiction.

All of these sessions can be quite emotive. Come with an open mind and ready for people, the speaker included, to occasionally misspeak. The purpose of these sessions is to give you some background to conditions we see all the time, some of it may just be reaffirming practice you already do, some of it may be new. It's all about tackling the unmanageable, how to handle psychiatric complaints as a paramedic.

This series of lunch and learns can be taken morsel by morsel, but are best enjoyed as five back to back sessions. Come along to all if you can!

If you have struggled to find time to do CPD recently, our 30-minute bite size sessions will fit right into your lunch break! These five weekly webinars will refresh your knowledge of relevant legislation and encourage evidence-based approaches to patients experiencing substance misuse, suicide and personality disorders.

Please see the separate event listings for the other sessions in the series in June and July on Suicide and Self Harm, Affective Disorders and Personality Disorders and Schizophrenia.
