We would like to invite applications for the 2017 Carol Furber Award. The award is presented in memory of the late Carol Furber who contributed so much to the College and this will be the eighth year it has taken place.

The prime purpose of the award is to encourage members of the College of Paramedics to make case study presentations. This will promote reflection on professional practice and enable the results and experience to be presented to the wider profession and other health care practitioners. Case studies of a high standard may also raise research questions.

You are invited to submit presentations for consideration of the award by the 27th March 2017. Your presentation should be written to protect patient confidentiality, using original text with references as appropriate and countersigned by a registered Paramedic supporting your work as a genuine case study. There should be no more than 1000 words, excluding references, front cover and appendices.

The winner will be assisted to publish their work in the British Paramedic Journal, Paramedic INSIGHT and on the College website.

The award will be supported with a book voucher to the value of £50.00, donated by the College and the publishers, Class Professional Publishing. The winner will be able to purchase their book from the range available at Class Professional Publishing. The winner’s name will be entered on the permanent records of the College of Paramedics which appear in all annual reports and will eventually be displayed at the College Head Office along with all Fellows, Honorary Fellows and recipients of other awards made by the College. The winners name will also be added to the Carol Furber Presentation Plate.

We would welcome as many individual submissions as we can achieve to honour the energy and passion given by Carol to help us to get the college into the respected position it is in today.

Please send submissions to Penny Jones, Head of Administrative Services, College of Paramedics, The Exchange, Express Park, Bristol Road, Bridgwater, Somerset TA6 4RR, email penny.jones@collegeofparamedics.co.uk , no later than Monday 27th March.
