Place of Work Northern Ireland Ambulance Service
College Area: Northern Ireland

What is your one most important benefit of being a member and why?

Our profession having its own independent voice and influence on any professional, educational and development issues affecting our daily and future practice.

What led you to become a College council representative?

A desire to promote our professional development in Northern Ireland.

How would you like to see the College develop over the next five years?

There’s definitely strength in numbers. A growing membership will bring a strong voice which will help influence policy makers and existing and future employers of our valuable profession.

How do you think the paramedic workforce has adapted to professional status and what yet needs to be done to support paramedics?

As a very young profession, the paramedic workforce has made immense progress in its professional status and third level education has gone some way to contributing towards this. I think more support such as financial bursaries from paramedic employers and Government will prove beneficial to paramedics and a great investment in terms of professional development as well as having positive effects on patient care and each employing organisation.
