Care and comms for transgender and non-binary patients

This session will highlight some of the common barriers to good care and communication with transgender and non-binary patients in paramedic practice. This session will reflect on systemic mistakes of the past and explore medical, surgical and psychological considerations for gold standard LGBTQ+ care.

Nat is a final year Student Paramedic at Bournemouth university, and also works with the Diversity Steering Group of the College of Paramedics contributing to guidance and policy for LGBTQ+ care in Paramedicine. Passionate about the emergency care of trans and non-binary patients from both a professional and personal perspective, Nat works with clinicians and students to help them better understand these topics and improve practice together.
